8 Tips to Look Twenty Years Younger

How would you feel if you were told that you looked twenty years younger than you actually are? It would be a major boost to your confidence. The good news is it could happen to you too. By using these 8 simple tips, you can look twenty years younger without spending a lot of money.

1. Update your makeup to complement how you have changed over the years. That shade of red lipstick may not work as well on you now as it did twenty years ago. However, before purchasing expensive department store makeup, check out your local pharmacy or dollar store. You are likely to find makeup products that are comparable to name brands for a lot less money. When applying makeup, remember that less is more, unless your daily activities require you to be in front of a camera for most of the day.

2. Take care of your skin by using moisturizers that contain sunscreen. SPF-15 is recommended for average exposure to the sun, and higher SPF products should be used for prolonged sun exposure. Avoid using deodorant soaps and other harsh cleansers on the skin, as these dry out the skin. Moisturizing cleansers should be used on the skin, and moisturizer should also be applied after a bath or shower.

3. Brighten your smile by whitening the teeth and protecting gums by brushing with a baking soda and peroxide solution. A low-sodium option is to use a tooth paste containing baking soda and peroxide. In addition to preventive dental services and cleanings, teeth whitening products such as strips and whitening trays can also be used.

4. Update your hair style often with styles that complement your face. If you have been wearing the same hair style for twenty years, it's time for a change because people secretly think that you’re stuck in a time warp. However, unless you are a cosmetologist, it is recommended that you get professional help with hair care.

5. Regular exercise is a sure way to look younger, and stay in overall good health. Take a walk around the block in your neighborhood at least three times per week. Start out slow and work your way up to more intensive exercise. Soon you’ll be able to join the youngsters in a game of volleyball at your next family reunion, and throughout the day your relatives will ask you what you’re doing to stay so young.

6. Develop healthy eating habits that include the following: Drink plenty of water to hydrate the body. Include fresh fruits and/or vegetables in every meal, and limit the use of sodium and calorie-filled condiments. Eat smaller portions by eating from a smaller plate. Eat throughout the day at regular intervals, and avoid eating heavy foods after 7:00 p.m.

7. Update your wardrobe by removing outdated clothing, and creating new looks with what’s left in your closet by paring pieces that were not purchased together to create new outfits. If you come across a dress that is out of style, cut it just below the thighs and wear legging underneath it for a trendy new look.

8. Finally, it is very important to get plenty of rest by getting at least 8 hours of sleep each night. Being tired makes you look older than your years, while being alert and energetic makes you appear younger. So, get that beauty sleep.
